About the Course

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Management and Science University (MSU) is a 5-year medical programme offered at the main campus in Shah Alam and the branch campus in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. 

This programme comprises two phases: a pre-clinical phase (Years 1 & 2) focused on basic medical sciences, and a clinical phase (Years 3, 4 & 5) that concentrates on clinical sciences.

As a student-centered institution, MSU adopts an outcome-based, integrated, and system-based curriculum supported by 21st-century teaching and learning methodologies. These include:

  • Project-Based Learning
  • Practical and clinical skills sessions
  • Clinical training with patient contact in various disciplines

Early clinical exposure is introduced during the pre-clinical phase to highlight the clinical relevance of basic medical sciences.

To enhance learning, students are offered opportunities for:

  • Overseas clinical electives
  • Basic medical research
  • Collaborative learning with Allied Health Sciences students through Interprofessional Education (IPE) modules.

Minimum Qualification for Entry into a Medical Programme

  • All applicants shall have attained a level of competence in English to enable them to complete the course successfully and achieved an equivalent competency of:
    • Band 4 MUET
    • TOEFL score of 550
    • IELTS score of 6

Minimum Requirements at School Certificate Level (or equivalent)

For applicants entering matriculation, foundation or pre-medical programmes (except those with a degree qualification in arts or humanities):

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / GCE O-Levels:
    5Bs in:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Mathematics or Additional Mathematics
    • Another subject
  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC):
    Minimum B4 each in 3 subjects:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics or Mathematics or Additional Mathematics

A. Higher School Certificate Level (or equivalent)

  • STPM / A-Levels: Grade BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics)
  • Matriculation / Foundation in Science / Pre-Medical Course:
    • CGPA 3.0 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
    • Course must be at least 1 year at the same accredited institution
    • Minimum SPM/O-Level: 5Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Add. Maths), and another subject
  • UEC: B4 each in 5 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics
  • Australian Programmes (e.g. MUFY, SAM, Ausmat): 80% aggregate or B in any 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics)
  • New Zealand (NCEA Level 3 / NZ Bursary): 80% average in 3 science/maths subjects
  • Canadian Programmes (CPU, CIMP, Grade 12/13): 80% average in 3 science/maths subjects
  • Indian Pre-University: 70% average in 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB):
    • 30 points total
    • Minimum 2 science subjects or Mathematics at Higher Level (HL), and 1 science subject at Standard Level (SL)
    • Minimum score of 4 in each science/math subject

B. Diploma Level

  • Diploma in Health Sciences:
    • CGPA 3.5 (out of 4)
    • Minimum 5 semesters (2.5 years) at the same accredited institution
    • Entry qualifications must include:
      • 2Bs in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
      • 3 Credits in English, Mathematics or Add. Maths, and another subject

C. Bachelor’s Degree Level

  • Health or Pure/Applied Sciences (5-Year Medical Program): CGPA 3.0
  • Health or Pure/Applied Sciences (4-Year Graduate Entry): CGPA 3.3
  • Arts or Humanities (5-Year Medical Program): CGPA 3.5
  • Arts or Humanities (4-Year Graduate Entry): CGPA 3.75

Additional Notes

  • Applicants may be required to pass an aptitude test, interview, and/or a university entrance exam.
  • There shall be no exemption from any year of a 4-year graduate medical programme.

 

 

STUDENT PASS / VISA REQUIREMENTS (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

All international students who plan to study full-time in Malaysia are required to obtain a Student Pass (Student Visa) before starting their studies.

• You must receive an official Offer Letter from the university before applying for a student pass

• The university will submit your Student Pass application through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) on your behalf

• A Visa Approval Letter (VAL / eVAL) is required before travelling to Malaysia

• Studying on a tourist or social visit visa is not permitted

• Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from your intended intake date

• Visa processing time depends on EMGS and Malaysian Immigration approval

• After arriving in Malaysia, all students must complete a medical check-up at an EMGS-registered clinic

• Your Student Pass will be issued only after medical clearance and document verification

• Continuing students must renew their Student Pass before it expires

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR STUDENT PASS APPLICATION

The following documents are commonly required for all international students:

• Valid passport (clear scanned copy of all pages, including blank pages)

• Passport-size photograph with a white background

• Official Offer Letter from the university

• Academic certificates and transcripts related to your programme

• English language proficiency certificate (IELTS / TOEFL or equivalent), if required

• Proof of acceptance or tuition fee payment (if requested by the university)

• Student Pass / Visa processing fee as determined by EMGS

• Completed EMGS Health Declaration Form (if applicable)

Please note: All documents not originally in English must be submitted together with certified English translations.

 

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)

Some students may be asked to provide extra documents depending on their situation:

• Release Letter and Visa Cancellation Letter (for students transferring from another institution in Malaysia)

• School Leaving Certificate (for foundation or diploma applicants)

• Sponsorship or Scholarship Letter (if your studies are funded)

• Proof of financial support to cover tuition fees and living expenses

• Statutory Declaration (if there are name differences across documents)

• Resume or Character Reference Letter (commonly required for applicants above 23 years old)

• Police Clearance Certificate (if requested by EMGS or embassy authorities)

• Copy of previous Malaysian visa or Resident Pass (if applicable)

 

AFTER ARRIVING IN MALAYSIA

Once you arrive in Malaysia, you will need to:

• Complete a medical examination at an EMGS-approved clinic

• Submit your passport for Student Pass endorsement

• Receive a temporary Special Pass (if applicable) while your Student Pass is being processed

• Collect your Student Pass and complete university registration

• Student Pass requirements are set by Malaysian Immigration and EMGS and may vary by nationality
• The university’s International Office will guide you through each step of the process
• Students are strongly advised to prepare documents at least 2–3 months before intake
• Requirements may change, so always follow the latest instructions provided by the university
