Course Overview

Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) enables students to gain deeper knowledge about technology with the combination of theories and practices from 3 specialisations: computer and network security, data analytics and software engineering. Courses such as principles of Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing & administration and human-computer interaction are in the programme as well to equip students with new technology practised in Malaysia.

 

This programme also provides students with a good understanding on computer ethics and Cyber Laws, computer forensic investigation and cryptography & network security.

  • Microsoft content and cloud-based lab is embedded in the courses
  • Students would be able to earn up to 20 Digital Badges or Certification based on courses embedded with Microsoft Content*

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements
 

  1. Pass STPM with a minimum Grade C (GPA 2.00) in two (2) subjects; OR
  2. Pass STAM with a minimum Grade of Jayyid in any two (2) subjects; OR
  3. Pass Matriculation or Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  4. Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in Non-Computing with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 can be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment;
    AND a credit in:
    a) Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
    b) Candidates with a pass in Mathematics at SPM level need to take and pass the reinforcement Mathematics subject equivalent to the SPM level. The reinforcement Mathematics subject must be offered in the first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer.
  5. Diploma in Computing fields (Level 4, MQF) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment; OR
  6. Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, subject to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval, and MUST attend bridging courses; OR
  7. Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, subject to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval, and MUST attend bridging courses; OR
  8. Other relevant and equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. (Candidates can be admitted if their admission qualification contains Mathematics subject(s) equivalent to Mathematics at the SPM level. If it is not equivalent, the reinforcement Mathematics subject equivalent to the SPM level must be offered in the first semester or before enrolment with unconditional offer).
  9. Entry requirements for admission into the Bachelor’s program (Level 6, MQF) through APEL A. Applicants must:
    a) Be a Malaysian citizen; andb) Be more than 21 years of age in the year of application;
    c) Have relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; and
    d) Pass the APEL Assessment.

English Requirement (International Students only)

  • a) Achieve a minimum of Band 3.5 in MUET or equivalent to CEFR (High B1).

 

 

STUDENT PASS / VISA REQUIREMENTS (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

All international students who plan to study full-time in Malaysia are required to obtain a Student Pass (Student Visa) before starting their studies.

• You must receive an official Offer Letter from the university before applying for a student pass

• The university will submit your Student Pass application through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) on your behalf

• A Visa Approval Letter (VAL / eVAL) is required before travelling to Malaysia

• Studying on a tourist or social visit visa is not permitted

• Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from your intended intake date

• Visa processing time depends on EMGS and Malaysian Immigration approval

• After arriving in Malaysia, all students must complete a medical check-up at an EMGS-registered clinic

• Your Student Pass will be issued only after medical clearance and document verification

• Continuing students must renew their Student Pass before it expires

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR STUDENT PASS APPLICATION

The following documents are commonly required for all international students:

• Valid passport (clear scanned copy of all pages, including blank pages)

• Passport-size photograph with a white background

• Official Offer Letter from the university

• Academic certificates and transcripts related to your programme

• English language proficiency certificate (IELTS / TOEFL or equivalent), if required

• Proof of acceptance or tuition fee payment (if requested by the university)

• Student Pass / Visa processing fee as determined by EMGS

• Completed EMGS Health Declaration Form (if applicable)

Please note: All documents not originally in English must be submitted together with certified English translations.

 

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)

Some students may be asked to provide extra documents depending on their situation:

• Release Letter and Visa Cancellation Letter (for students transferring from another institution in Malaysia)

• School Leaving Certificate (for foundation or diploma applicants)

• Sponsorship or Scholarship Letter (if your studies are funded)

• Proof of financial support to cover tuition fees and living expenses

• Statutory Declaration (if there are name differences across documents)

• Resume or Character Reference Letter (commonly required for applicants above 23 years old)

• Police Clearance Certificate (if requested by EMGS or embassy authorities)

• Copy of previous Malaysian visa or Resident Pass (if applicable)

 

AFTER ARRIVING IN MALAYSIA

Once you arrive in Malaysia, you will need to:

• Complete a medical examination at an EMGS-approved clinic

• Submit your passport for Student Pass endorsement

• Receive a temporary Special Pass (if applicable) while your Student Pass is being processed

• Collect your Student Pass and complete university registration

• Student Pass requirements are set by Malaysian Immigration and EMGS and may vary by nationality
• The university’s International Office will guide you through each step of the process
• Students are strongly advised to prepare documents at least 2–3 months before intake
• Requirements may change, so always follow the latest instructions provided by the university
