Course Overview

The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a 2 ½ year diploma and provides an opportunity for students to learn theoretical and practical skills to work in the mechanical and manufacturing industries. Mechanical engineering skills are highly needed as there is a shortage of technicians everywhere.

Mechanical engineering is a diverse and challenging field where students will use practical skills combined with innovative thinking to design and build mechanical devices, systems and machines.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO 1To enable graduates to apply their knowledge and skills related to Mechanical Engineering discipline and able to solve problems logically.
PEO 2To produce graduates who are semi-professionals and able to plan, analyse, design and supervise mechanical engineering projects.
PEO 3To produce graduates who are able to respond and readily adapt to emerging technologies and contemporary issues.

Upon completion of the programme, the students will be able to : 
PO 1Knowledge: Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, computing and engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation as specified in DK1 to DK4 respectively to wide practical procedures and practices. 
PO 2Problem Analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity (DK1 to DK4). 
PO 3Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety as well as, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations as required (DK5). 
PO 4Investigation: Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements (DK8). 
PO 5Tool Usage: Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering computing and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations (DK2 and DK6). 
PO 6The Engineering Technician and the World: Consider sustainable development impacts* to: society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment, in solving well-defined engineering problems. (DK1, DK5, and DK7). 
PO 7Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice and including compliance with national and international laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion; (DK9).

SPM - Pass SPM/SPMV With (3) three Credits In: Mathematics & Science (Science/Techical/Vocasional) & 1 Other Subject Pass In English

STPM - Pass STPM with Min (CGPA: 2.00) / C in any (1) one subject and pass in Mathematics & English and Science Technical / Vocational at SPM Level
Credit in Maths in SPM level

STAM - Pass STAM with Grade Maqbul and pass Mathematics & English & Science or a Technical/Vocational subject at SPM Level

0-LEVEL - Pass O Level With Grade C In (3)three Subjects: Mathematics & Science (Science/Techical/Vocasional) & 1 Oth Subj Pass In English

UEC - For Senior middle three (SM3) only
Pass UEC with Grade B In 3 Subjects: Mathematics & Science (Science/Techical/Vocasional) & 1 Oth Subj Pass In English

Certificate - Pass Certificate In Engineering Or Engineering Technology (Level 3) With Min Cgpa 2.00
NPass In Vocational And Technical Certificate (Level 3 Kkm) With Cgpa 2.00 And 1 Year Working Experience Or 1 Semester Bridging Course
Pass In Certificate Skm Level 3 Or Certificate From Kolej Komuniti And Pass Spm With 1 Credit And Must Undergo A Bridging Programme For Maths If Fail In Maths

STUDENT PASS / VISA REQUIREMENTS (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

All international students who plan to study full-time in Malaysia are required to obtain a Student Pass (Student Visa) before starting their studies.

• You must receive an official Offer Letter from the university before applying for a student pass

• The university will submit your Student Pass application through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) on your behalf

• A Visa Approval Letter (VAL / eVAL) is required before travelling to Malaysia

• Studying on a tourist or social visit visa is not permitted

• Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from your intended intake date

• Visa processing time depends on EMGS and Malaysian Immigration approval

• After arriving in Malaysia, all students must complete a medical check-up at an EMGS-registered clinic

• Your Student Pass will be issued only after medical clearance and document verification

• Continuing students must renew their Student Pass before it expires

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR STUDENT PASS APPLICATION

The following documents are commonly required for all international students:

• Valid passport (clear scanned copy of all pages, including blank pages)

• Passport-size photograph with a white background

• Official Offer Letter from the university

• Academic certificates and transcripts related to your programme

• English language proficiency certificate (IELTS / TOEFL or equivalent), if required

• Proof of acceptance or tuition fee payment (if requested by the university)

• Student Pass / Visa processing fee as determined by EMGS

• Completed EMGS Health Declaration Form (if applicable)

Please note: All documents not originally in English must be submitted together with certified English translations.

 

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)

Some students may be asked to provide extra documents depending on their situation:

• Release Letter and Visa Cancellation Letter (for students transferring from another institution in Malaysia)

• School Leaving Certificate (for foundation or diploma applicants)

• Sponsorship or Scholarship Letter (if your studies are funded)

• Proof of financial support to cover tuition fees and living expenses

• Statutory Declaration (if there are name differences across documents)

• Resume or Character Reference Letter (commonly required for applicants above 23 years old)

• Police Clearance Certificate (if requested by EMGS or embassy authorities)

• Copy of previous Malaysian visa or Resident Pass (if applicable)

 

AFTER ARRIVING IN MALAYSIA

Once you arrive in Malaysia, you will need to:

• Complete a medical examination at an EMGS-approved clinic

• Submit your passport for Student Pass Endorsement

• Receive a temporary Special Pass (if applicable) while your Student Pass is being processed

• Collect your Student Pass and complete university registration

• Student Pass requirements are set by Malaysian Immigration and EMGS and may vary by nationality
• The university’s International Office will guide you through each step of the process
• Students are strongly advised to prepare documents at least 2–3 months before intake
• Requirements may change, so always follow the latest instructions provided by the university
