Course Overview

The pharmaceutical industry is a growing industry with many career opportunities. If you are considering a career in this industry, then this programme is for you. We designed this programme to expose you to all stages of the drug development process, from how drugs are discovered, designed, tested, controlled and marketed. You will learn about drug formulation and manufacturing, quality control, clinical trials and regulatory assessment before medicines are being made available to the public. In the first two years of the programme, you will be taught the core scientific knowledge including the physiology of the human body, the effects of medicines on human body and how medicines are developed and designed. The focus will be on manufacturing and quality control of medicines. In the final year, you will become familiar with the aspects of formulation and manufacturing through placements with pharmaceutical industry. You will then use your skills and knowledge to carry out a supervised research project in a specific area of pharmaceutical technology.

The programme will give you the skills and knowledge for a career in the pharmaceutical industry and other related sectors, such as research, regulatory affairs or the herbal or cosmetics industry. You could also go on to further your study to a master’s or PhD level.
