MAHSA University’s Advanced Diploma in Paediatric Nursing is a 1 year post-basic nursing programme designed for students who have completed a Diploma in Nursing with some relevant work experience and who have a specific interest in the nursing of infants and children.
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to attend to the nursing needs of infants and children in particular, and of their parents and families as a whole.
Students will also learn how to show care and concern for their patients, and to demonstrate the correct attitude towards them. They will explore such subjects as physiology, pathophysiology, nutritional requirements in infants and children, practical application of theoretical knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, the impact of illness and hospitalization on children, communication skills and much more.
At the end of the programme, students will have acquired the ability to deliver primary nursing care, rehabilitative and palliative care, and need-specific health care to children of all ages. They will be ready for employment in specialist paediatric hospitals and medical centres anywhere.
